The two zodiacs
The tropical zodiac is anchored to the equinox (0° Aries = the spring equinox). The sidereal zodiac is anchored to actual constellations.
Why they differ
The Earth wobbles slowly on its axis — the precession of equinoxes. Over thousands of years the two zodiacs drift apart. Today they are roughly 24° apart.
Which is right?
Wrong question. Western astrology asks where is the Sun in the year cycle? — tropical answers that. Vedic astrology asks which constellation? — sidereal answers that. Both are valid.
Use whichever system the rest of your astrology uses.
