Long before modern psychological astrology, the fixed stars were a major working layer. They are individual bright stars used as supplementary symbols beyond the planets.
Why fixed?
Compared with the wandering planets, the stars appear fixed in the sky. (They actually move, but extremely slowly.)
Major examples
Regulus (Heart of the Lion) — power, leadership, fall from grace if pride wins. Spica — luck, gift, blessing. Algol — the demon-star, intense, dangerous if denied. Aldebaran and Antares — courage, militance.
How to use them
Look at fixed stars within 1° of your Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven. Beyond that, their effect is debated. See your degrees in your natal chart.
