Walrus
A massive tusked sea mammal hauled out in groups — heavy company kept on shared cold ground.
A walrus in a dream is the dream's image of weight that survives by gathering with other weight on the same patch of cold ground. Walruses lie on each other; the warmth is in the heap, and the tusks are not for fighting strangers so much as for defending a place in the pile. The dream brings the animal when you are in a phase of life where endurance is being done collectively — a hard winter, a long grief, a family pressed together by circumstance. A walrus colony resting is the dream telling you the gathering is doing its protective work. A walrus driven off the haul-out is the dream noting that the place in the pile has been lost, and the cold is now a problem the body has to face on its own.
