Tears

Salt water from the eyes — the body's release of what could not stay inside.

Tears in a dream are the dream's image of the body's release of what could not stay inside. Tears are involuntary in a way speech is not; what tears mark, words may not yet have reached. The dream brings tears when something in your life — a grief, a relief, a long-held tension — has reached the level where the body itself is letting it out. Tears that come and are wiped without shame are the dream affirming that the release is being permitted. Tears that come at the wrong moment, in a meeting or a public space, are the dream noting that the held material has outgrown the schedule of your controlled life and is appearing on its own timing.
