Surrender
The laying down of resistance — the moment a long-held position is released, by choice or exhaustion.
Surrender in a dream is the dream's image of the laying down of resistance after a long defence. Surrender is not the same as defeat; surrender is the conscious act of putting down the position that has been held, and the act can be performed with dignity or in collapse. The dream brings surrender when something in your life — a long argument, a long control over an outcome, a long kept self-image — is reaching the point where continuing the defence is costing more than the position is worth. A surrender made with the shoulders lowered and the weapon laid carefully down is the dream affirming the honest letting go. A surrender refused past the point where it would have been ordinary, with the defence continuing into territory that has already cost the rest of the household, is the dream noting that the laying down is being delayed by a pride that the rest of the life is now paying for.
