Deep squid

A large squid from below the light — a mind from a depth the surface was not built to meet.

A deep squid in a dream is the dream's image of a presence from a level you do not visit, briefly visible where it does not belong. Deep squid live in pressure and dark; what comes up dies of the surface. The dream brings the creature when something from your own depth — a buried memory, an unintegrated part of yourself, a truth from a relationship you keep submerged — has risen close enough to the light to be seen. A squid glimpsed and let descend is the dream telling you the sighting was the work, and forcing it further up will kill the thing you were finally able to look at. A squid hauled to the surface and dying is the dream noting that you tried to bring deep material into ordinary daylight, and it cannot live there.
