Sleeping Saliva in dreams

Saliva in a dream is the dream's image of the body's first preparation of what is about to enter it. The mouth begins to water before the food arrives; the appetite is doing visible work. The dream brings saliva when an anticipation in your life — for a meal, for a conversation, for a relationship — is currently shaping your inner state before the actual thing has arrived. Saliva produced in healthy anticipation is the dream telling you the appetite is alive. A mouth gone dry, or saliva running uncontrolled, is the dream noting that the body's signalling system around appetite has gone out of balance — either you have stopped wanting what you used to want, or the wanting has begun to run on its own.
