Restraint
Holding back from an action that is available — choosing not to do what you could do.
Restraint in a dream is the dream's image of choosing not to do what you could do. Restraint is not inability; it is the deliberate non-use of an available capacity. The dream brings restraint when something in your life — a sharp reply you could give, a power you could deploy, a piece of revenge available to take — is being held back from being acted on. Restraint exercised cleanly is the dream affirming the chosen non-use. Restraint exercised so long that the held action has become a stored pressure no one is aware of is the dream noting that the holding back has become its own problem, and the uncommitted action is doing harm in storage.
