Young Pig in dreams

Appetite — and what you have been allowing yourself to want.

In its young form, the symbol is past the early-vulnerable phase but not yet at its full strength — a part of your life that has begun to come into its own and is still learning the shape of itself.

A pig in a dream is the dictionary's image of appetite. The folk tradition makes the pig a symbol of greed; the dream uses the symbol more honestly — appetite is not the same as greed, and the dream is asking you to look at what you actually want.

A pig at the trough with other pigs is the dictionary's image of shared appetite — sometimes celebratory, sometimes the dream noting that the appetite has become competitive.

Where you often see it. A pig at a trough. A pig in a pen. The dream uses the pig for appetite — and what you have been allowing yourself to want.

What it is not. A pig is not always greed in the dictionary's register. It is the dreamer's appetite, including the appetites the dreamer has been refusing.
