Black Key in dreams

Access. The answer to a question you have been holding for a while.

Black colour pulls the symbol toward the not-yet-known — depth, hiddenness, the part of the situation that has not yet come into the light. The dream is rarely warning you; it is showing you that there is more to the picture than the part you have been looking at.

A key in a dream is an answer or a piece of access you have been waiting for. Finding a key on waking life is usually the dictionary's signal that something has clicked into place — even if you cannot yet name what it has unlocked.

Losing a key is the inverse — you had access and have somehow let it slip. Try to remember what door the key was for; the dream is more specific than it appears.

A broken key is a partial answer — close enough to recognize the shape of, not yet enough to act on.

Where you often see it. A key that does not fit its lock. A key found unexpectedly. The dream uses the key for access — the answer to a question you have been holding for a while.

What it is not. A key is not always literal access. The dictionary often reads it as the dreamer's recently-found understanding.

Related in the dictionary. Read key with door, lock, and any scene of newly possible passage.
