Jumping

A discrete leap — a decision made all at once.

Jumping in a dream is the dictionary's image of a decision made all at once. Unlike climbing, the jump cannot be undone mid-air. The dream tends to appear around decisions that you have actually already made but have not yet acted on — the jump is the dream rehearsing the moment of commitment.

Where you often see it. Jumping from a height. Jumping across a gap. Jumping out of a crowd. The dream uses jumping for a discrete leap — a decision made all at once.

What it is not. Jumping is not always reckless. The dictionary reads it as the dreamer choosing to commit without further deliberation.

Related in the dictionary. Read jumping with cliff, falling, and any scene where deliberation has ended.
