Abstract

Innocence

A state of not yet having been marked by a particular kind of knowledge — clarity that has not yet had to deal with the harder facts.

Innocence in a dream is the dream's image of a state of not yet having been marked by a particular kind of knowledge. Innocence is not stupidity; the innocent person may be very intelligent. They have simply not yet had to deal with the harder material that will come. The dream brings innocence when something in your life — a child, a young friend, a part of yourself still untouched by a certain kind of injury — is currently in a state that the world will eventually change. Innocence honoured and protected for as long as is honest is the dream affirming the right stewardship. Innocence forcibly ended for the convenience of an adult who wanted to be done with it is the dream noting that the early stage was real and is being ended without respect for its rightful season.
