Godchild
A child to whom one stands as godparent — a chosen responsibility for someone else's child.
A godchild in a dream is the dream's image of a chosen responsibility for someone else's child. The godchild is not yours and is also not unrelated; the vow was made once and the relationship sits outside the ordinary family lines. The dream brings the godchild when something in your life — a mentee, a friend's child you have promised to be present for, a responsibility taken by sworn intent — is the keeping of an old vow about another person's young life. A godchild visited and held in mind on the right day is the dream affirming the kept vow. A godchild grown up without your having been present, the promise carried in name only, is the dream noting that the sworn responsibility has gone unfulfilled, and what was supposed to be a particular kind of person in their life has not in fact been there.
