Wet Face in dreams

Identity as presented — and the work of being seen.

Wet adds the emotional layer — the symbol has been touched by feeling. The reading is rarely the simple version; the situation has gathered some emotion on its way to you.

A face in a dream is the dictionary's image of identity as presented. A familiar face is recognition. An unfamiliar face is the dream's image of a part of you that is becoming visible to you for the first time. Your own face in the mirror is the dictionary's most direct image of self-recognition.

A face you cannot read is the dream's image of an emotional state — yours or someone else's — that is unclear to you in waking life.

Where you often see it. Your own face in a window or a mirror. A face that you cannot quite remember after the dream. A face changing while you watch. The dream uses the face for identity as presented — and the work of being seen.

What it is not. The face in a dream is not always about appearance. It is more often about which self the dream is asking you to recognise.

Related in the dictionary. Read face with mirror, mask, and any scene where you are negotiating which version of you is visible.
