Confessional booth

A small enclosed booth where confession is heard — a private architecture for telling what cannot be told elsewhere.

A confessional booth in a dream is the dream's image of a private architecture built for telling what cannot be told anywhere else. The booth is small, the screen is between the speaker and the listener, and the design is so that the words leave the speaker and are heard once, by one person sworn not to repeat them. The dream brings the booth when something in your life — a private admission needed, a conscience asking for a witness, a piece of action you have not been able to say to anyone — is in need of an enclosed, protected place to be spoken aloud. A booth entered and the words said is the dream affirming the proper enclosed telling. A booth walked past in favour of saying the thing in a public room is the dream noting that what needed the small protected room has been said in the wrong scale, and the room has heard what was not for it.
