Clown
A painted entertainer whose face hides whatever face is underneath — laughter performed by a person who is not fully visible.
A clown in a dream is the dream's image of laughter being performed by a figure whose own face is not on display. The paint is the job; what the person under it actually feels is a separate question. The dream brings the clown when someone in your life — or you yourself — is currently providing humour and lightness as the public function, while the interior is held entirely behind the makeup. A clown working a room with a real joy under the paint is the dream affirming that the performance and the person are aligned. A clown alone in a back room, face still on, no audience, is the dream noting that the paint did not come off after the show, and the person underneath is no longer being met by anyone, including by themselves.
