Smooth Clock in dreams

Time. The awareness of it, the pressure of it, or the running out of it.

Smooth texture adds ease — the symbol's surface is in good order, the friction is low. The reading is more positive than the base; whatever the symbol stands for is well-handled at the moment.

A clock in a dream is the dictionary's image of time-awareness. A clock with hands moving normally is a healthy relationship with time. A clock running fast is pressure that has slipped past sustainable. A stopped clock is a phase that has paused, sometimes by choice, sometimes by stalling.

Looking at the time and seeing a meaningful number is the dictionary's smaller image of intuition — the dream pointing at something it wants you to notice in waking life.

Where you often see it. A clock you cannot read. A clock whose hands move too fast. A clock at the edge of the dream-room. The dream uses the clock for time — the awareness of it, the pressure of it, the running out of it.

What it is not. A clock is not always anxiety. The dictionary often reads it as the dreamer's relationship to schedule.

Related in the dictionary. Read clock with clock-broken (its dysfunctional cousin), waiting, and any scene where time is the labour.
