A fight in a dream is the dictionary's image for unresolved conflict. The opponent often matters less than the fact of fighting itself. Most often the figure you are fighting is an aspect of yourself you have been at war with — a habit, a part of your history, a way of seeing yourself that you have outgrown but not let go of.
Winning the fight in the dream is rarely the relief you would expect — usually the dream tells you the cost was high. Refusing the fight when it is offered is the dictionary's image of an emotionally mature exit.
Where you often see it. A fight you cannot win in the dream. A fight you started without meaning to. The dream uses the fight for unresolved conflict — usually with yourself, even when it looks like someone else.
What it is not. A fight dream is not always literal aggression. The dictionary reads it as the dramatised form of an internal disagreement.
